MORE TEACHING TIPS!

REMINDERS:
  • A BIT OF CRAZINESS HELPS A LOT :)
  • Be punctual and control time allotted, so that you won’t have to say ‘I ring the bell in my class’! I use that when they arrive late!
  • Cheer up pessimistic students (Oh! Come on! Tell them about passive and active vocabulary, tell them they are able to do it, encourage them)
  • Choose best students to demonstrate. Choose slow ones at the end of the activity.
  • Do not say: 'let's stay a little bit longer' (trying to avoid that too)
  • Do not use abbreviations!
  • Remember to include punctuation when writing on the board.
  • Read the lesson plan suggested by the author and observe the purpose of the tasks. Do as suggested!
  • The board is magic, depending on how you use it!
  • Use the "Computer Technique": repeat after the student. Have him or her say the word once, then repeat it with correct pronunciation.
  • Use ‘Hey, listen’ to call their attention.
  • When teaching locations and directions, use maps, trace them out on the map with your fingers.
  • Whenever you move to another page, remember to mention on the board "Page X, ex-Y". This helps students who are a bit lost and also late comers.
If you have any other tip, share it! I'll be glad to read your ideas!
